چکیده

Radio-frequency (RF) ranging can be an important aid to an integrated navigation system, providing a key element to updating location information when GNSS systems are unavailable, blocked, or otherwise denied. The majority of the recent literature on RF ranging aids has focused on ultra wideband (UWB) ranging methods, due to the increase in ranging precision that comes with increasing RF bandwidth. Practically, challenges exist with UWB due to implementation difficulties and regulatory limitations. This paper presents our approach to band-limited RF ranging [1, 2] that is highprecision (centimeters), flexible in spectrum utilization, and inexpensive to implement. This band-limited ranging radio architecture has the potential for broad utility as an aid to integrated navigation systems. Several of these potential applications are described in this paper.

High-Precision 2.4 GHz DSSS RF Ranging - ENSCO Geolocation & Navigation Technical Paper (PDF)

Precision ranging radios are a critical aid to integrated locating, tracking, navigation, and guidance systems, especially when GPS service is degraded or unavailable [5]. In this work, a high-precision, software-defined, round-trip time-of-flight, direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) ranging radio operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band is presented. This system builds upon our previous brassboard...

A Hierarchical SLAM/GPS/INS Sensor Fusion with WLFP for Flying Robo-SAR's Navigation

In this paper, we present the results of a hierarchical SLAM/GPS/INS/WLFP sensor fusion to be used in navigation system devices. Due to low quality of the inertial sensors, even a short-term GPS failure can lower the integrated navigation performance significantly. In addition, in GPS denied environments, most navigation systems need a separate assisting resource, in order to increase the avail...
